'If You Get In Trouble I'll Pardon You': Ex-DHS Official Miles Taylor Says Trump Promised Protection For Illegal Policies - 2020-08-25
Taylor, who served as chief of staff to former Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, has alleged Trump claimed "magical authorities" beyond the law and withheld disaster aid from California because it is a blue state.
Taylor also accused Trump of wanting to "exploit" DHS for "his own political purposes and to fuel his own agenda," and of wanting to "go further" than his family separation policy to discourage migrants from seeking asylum in the U.S.
Trump campaign spokesperson Judd Deere responded to Taylor's initial allegations by calling him a "creature of the D.C. Swamp" who "never understood the importance of the President's agenda," while Trump said he "never met" Taylor despite photos of them together.
