A nearly two-year court battle with the state of Oklahoma to license the Narconon Chilocco drug and alcohol treatment center near Newkirk has spotlighted the church and its teachings.

The church is a financial supporter of the program and Narconon textbooks are written by church founder L. Ron Hubbard.

Scientologists contend the basis of their Oklahoma legal problems is religious persecution.
