The City of Cambridge has put a stop on the Narconon Cambridge drug rehabilitation facility in northeast Hespeler.

After residents brought concerns to Coun. Donna Reid on May 3, the city investigated the converted home at 7 Pointer St. and, according to a letter addressed to residents in the area from Reid and Mayor Kathryn McGarry, found the home "could meet the definition" of a special care facility.

That use is permitted in any zone, the letter states, but must follow specific regulations: limits on the number of people occupying the property; parking restrictions; provincial and federal licenses; and registration with the registrar of group homes.
