Epoch Media Group alleges that "demonstrably false and damaging defamatory statements" in the article, including that Facebook "revealed in December that Epoch Media Group … had furtively pumped nearly $10 million in ads through a hidden network of fake accounts and pages," damages its brand.

The plaintiff further contends that the article's claim that Facebook "removed over 600 accounts tied to Epoch Times" falsely suggest that the publication is "compromised and untruthful."

Braslow describes the newspaper's website in his article as "a fiercely pro-Trump conspiracy website recently mired in scandal for its ties to a massive network of fraudulent Facebook accounts."
