The former Downtown Cincinnati home of the Church of Scientology of Ohio may become a new gathering place for disciples of craft beer.

Listermann Brewing Co., which operates a microbrewery in Evanston, is negotiating a lease to take over the first floor and basement of the former Scientology building at 211 W. Fourth St., according to Jason Brewer, Listermann's general manager.

Listermann hopes to open a German-style beer hall there if it can come to terms on a lease that wouldn't over-extend the brewer's financial commitments, Brewer said.
