Meet Daniel Friberg, the Swedish mining tycoon bankrolling the alt-right's global media empire - 2017-03-06
As hipsters partied in Stockholm's liberal Sodermalm district on Saturday (25 February) night, a secret venue was hosting a meeting for some of the leading figures of the alt-right white nationalist movement.
Billed as the largest alt-right event in the world, the mood was triumphant, with 374 guests gathered to hear speakers celebrating the election of US president Donald Trump, and mark what they claim is an historic opportunity to spread their ideas and consolidate their influence.
The Real Right Returns: A Handbook for the True Opposition The book, published in 2015 by Arktos is Friberg's manifesto, and a handbook for alt-right activists wanting to spread and defend the ideology. It contains chapters on political philosophy, alongside advice on how to promote beliefs online, and even deal with reporters. "The Right is coming back. After decades of humiliation and political failures, the opposition is reorganising, catching up with the times, and getting itself in order. It is none too soon," he declares. "Uncontrolled immigration, the mindless waste of resources, and destruction wrought by consumer society upon the very core of Western man — these are problems posing questions which the 'establishment' cannot answer."
