MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) _ Celebrity devotees Lisa Marie Presley and Isaac Hayes told a crowd at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Church of Scientology's Memphis mission to ignore media criticism of the religion also followed by John Travolta and Tom Cruise.

"For me, it saved my life and my sanity many times," Presley said Saturday of the religion founded by the late L. Ron Hubbard in 1954.

Hayes and the daughter of Elvis Presley financed the renovation of the church building.
