Neighbours of the Church of Scientology at Chatswood, on Sydney's lower north shore, say they're appalled the group is advertising a family "fun day" at its super centre where a member was recently stabbed to death.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murdering Taiwanese national Chih-Jen Yeh, 24, by stabbing him in the neck with a large kitchen knife while he was being escorted from the Church of Scientology's Australasian headquarters on January 3.

A 30-year-old man also suffered minor injuries.
