Former Scientology spokesman Mike Rinder (left) received a frightening threat of violence which he posted to his blog this morning. The anonymous sender of the message said Rinder was under surveillance "twenty four seven," and told Rinder he wanted to "cut your fuckin balls off."

Besides Rinder's threat, we've known about several incidents of in-person harassment that have been occurring in recent days, but we haven't been in a position to talk about them. Often, when people are targeted by Scientology's private investigator operations, they don't want to discuss it, which is one of the things the church counts on.

Meanwhile, film director Paul Haggis (right), Marty Rathbun, Tom Devocht, and others in the film have long been targets of Scientology's online efforts to harm their reputations. That activity has increased greatly in the weeks leading up to the Going Clear theatrical premiere this week.
