PickAnotherID is a member of the Underground Bunker community who is a veteran with expertise in military records. Previously, he documented more thoroughly than anyone ever has the extent of the Church of Scientology's "stolen valor" concerning bogus claims about founder L. Ron Hubbard's World War 2 record. Now he's back with an interesting new look at one episode in Ron's war: His transport to Australia in 1941.

On 17 December 1941 Lt. (junior grade) Lafayette R. Hubbard was ordered by the 12th Naval District in San Francisco to proceed to the SS President Polk for transport to Manila, Philippine Islands. Which makes you wonder who Hubbard annoyed, since the ship was due to sail less than 24 hours later.
