This may be one of the saddest photos we've ever posted here at the Underground Bunker. It shows the scene on January 31 at the Church of Scientology in Pasadena, California, and it was included in a press release put out by the church itself.

The occasion was a speech given by the woman you see in the center of the photograph. Her name is Mala Langholz, and she's a Holocaust survivor. Last year, she co-wrote a poignant remembrance of surviving the Auschwitz death camp with a 101-year-old Armenian man who as a child had survived the Armenian genocide in Turkey. But on this occasion, Langholz had been convinced to give a talk about her experiences for Scientology's rabid anti-psychiatry front group, the Citizens Commission on Human Rights, CCHR.

Of Scientology's many front groups, CCHR is the most unhinged. It maintains a museum on Sunset Boulevard whose name is Psychiatry: An Industry of Death, and one of the claims it makes in that house of propaganda is that the Holocaust was actually a product of psychiatry, not Nazism.
