Originally, the applicant sought closure of the road but was open to studying realignment options. The county staff recommends initiating a general plan amendment to evaluate realignment options, with the applicant bearing study costs and any realignment cost.

If realignment is considered, "We would like to be at the table," said San Jacinto City Manager Tim Hults. Last year, the San Jacinto City Council went on record against closure because of the regional significance of the road.
