H.R. 2278 (113th): SAFE Act[1]
Full title To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to improve immigration law enforcement within the interior of the United States, and for other purposes.
Introduced Jun 6, 2013
Status Died in a previous Congress
Sponsor Trey Gowdy, Representative for South Carolina's 4th congressional district, Republican

This bill caused a widespread outcry among religious groups[2] because it countered what is known as the Leahy-Kyl terrorism-related inadmissibility grounds (TRIG) reforms of 2007[3][4] that allowed refugee exemptions for those seeking a green card with no known ties to terrorism.
