Earlier this month, District Judge Neal Beekman in Kay County ordered the center to shut down until it gets a state license.

The center's lawyers appealed Beekman's order to the state Supreme Court on Thursday.

If the state high court refuses to consider the appeal and issue an emergency stay, Narconon Chilocco probably will go to the U.S. Supreme Court, said Gary Smith, the center's president.
